Aboriginal women and girls are strong and beautiful. Unfortunately, they often face life-threatening, gender-based violence and disproportionately experience violent crimes because of hatred and racism (Fact Sheet: Violence Against Aboriginal Women , 2013). According to Statistics Canada, Aboriginal woman are three to five times more likely to experience violence than non-Aboriginal women (Fact Sheet: Violence Against Aboriginal Women , 2013). Fortunately, this frightening trend has been noticed and interventions such as the Sisters In Spirit social movement and Kanawayhitowin Campaign have been created to assist in diminishing these violent events. The men are educated on the influences and impacts of violence against women in addition to fostering a change in attitudes a nd beliefs. The Kanawayhitowin Campaign uses the teachings of the Seven Grandfathers to help people live in harmony with creation which focuses on wisdom, love, respect, bravery, honesty, humility, and truth (Ontario Federation of Indian Friendship Centres, 2008). This empowers Aboriginal men to take responsibility for their actions and help them chose not to abuse women. The Kanawayhitowin Campaign also provides resources for women by exemplifying different kinds of abuse, and the pattern of abuse. Aboriginal women also have access to safety planning and shelters to ensure their safety which empowers them and displays their rightful place as equal partners in the Aboriginal community. In 1961, Good Brothers Poultry offered Cathy to come up with a chicken sandwich that met up to airline size requirements. He then invented the original Chicken Sandwich in 1964 when his regular customers finally told him â€Å"We like it. Don’t change it again. † {text:bibliography-mark} When he was deciding on the name to trade mark, he thought about the chicken filet he used. He then shortened it with a capital â€Å"A† at the end to stand for top quality. In 1967 he opened up his first mall restaurant in the Greenbrair Mall in Atlanta. In 1973, he offered $1000 team member scholarships for his employees to further their education. In 1982 it was the 1st fast food chain nationally to sell chicken nuggets. In 1992, Georgia Tech and Clemons University were the first Universities to have a Chick-fil-a restaurant on campus. According to Truett Cathy’s biography that I looked up on his website, he has been in the restaurant business for 62 years and now has 1,400 restaurants in 37 states including Washington D. ANALYSIS*: Strengths: Name Brand Recognition: Chick-fil-A officially opened in an Atlanta mall in 1967. In 1995, Chick-fil-A introduced the infamous renegade cows known for the â€Å"Eat Mor Chickin† campaigns. {text:bibliography-mark} . Customer Service:Chic-fil-A, prid es itself on pleasing the customer, and it shows. Anytime I have ever visited any Chic-fil-A restaurant, I have been served with the greeting ending in â€Å"my pleasure†. They have won 30 customer service awards in the past 12 years, and among those the Business Week/J. D. Power has awarded them top 25 â€Å"Customer Service Champs† {text:bibliography-mark} . Employee Retention: Regarding the Closed on Sunday Policy, Chick-fil-A mentioned in a press release online â€Å"there must be something special about how Chick-fil-A feels about its people. † I do believe that being closed on Sunday’s gives their employees the opportunity to spend quality time with their families and/or go to church. Community Involvement: Chic-fil-A does not stop with the employee or the customer, they also help charities such as the â€Å"Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America† which raises money for various children hospitals. Nutritio_n: _With chicken being the main thing on the menu, Chick-fil-A uses trans-fat and cholesterol free peanut oil to deep fry their chicken and French fries. They also have 10 menu items that have 10 or fewer grams of fat {text:bibliography-mark} . Weaknesses _Closed on Sunday Policy_: Although Mr. Cathy prides himself and does not regret the â€Å"Closed on Sunday Policy†, this is still a potential day to make revenues. In 2007, sales reached $2. 64 billion {text:bibliography-mark} , and I can only imagine how much sales would be if they were open on Sunday. Religion at work: Since Mr. Cathy has such strong Christian beliefs, some people who are not religious may find that intimidating or awkward to work for. For example, in October of 2002, Chick-fil-a was slapped with a lawsuit for violating the Civil Rights Act of 1964 {text:bibliography-mark} . The lawsuit came after Aziz Latif was fired one day after training in which his attorney claims that the following events took place: â€Å"’_Everyone said a prayer, one at a time, to Jesus Christ’he said’When it came to our client, who is Muslim, he didn’t say anything. There was an awkward silence. Then eventually the next person started praying to Jesus Christ. The next day he was fired. ’† {text:bibliography-mark} _ I could not find the verdict of this trial, but this is one way that religion at work can be a weakness to the company. Only selling chicken: Chick-fil-A sells only chicken which is another weakness. By not offering beef, pork, or fish Chick-fil-A is not expanding their target market to the people who choose not to eat chicken. The people who choose to eat these other meats are lost customers that could have been potential customers had they offered them these other products. Opportunity Growth: In 2007, Chick-fil-A had more than 1,380 restaurants in 37 states, and with a unique $5000 sub-lease franchise opportunity, I do not see this number getting any smaller any time soon. Innovation: Chick-fil-A has definitely grown since their one mall restaurant. They now have approximately 375 major mall restaurants, 728 stand-alone locations, 29 drive-thru-only restaurants, 11 Chick-fil-A Dwarf House Restaurants, and 2 ‘50s diner-themed Truett’s Grill Restaurants {text:bibliography-mark} . Education: Chick-fil-A also has several employee scholarship programs available that date all the way back to 1973. They have offered more than $23. 5 million to over 23,300 employees. The scholarships are the Team Member Scholarship program, S. Truett Cathy Scholar Awards, and also the WinShape Foundation. This to me says that they want valuable team members who can bring new ideas to the table, and not have to outsource for more educated personnel to fill the shoes of the high command positions. Threats: Lower Priced Fast Food Restaurants Meat Variety Restaurants C. Industry Environment: Chick-fil-A is a fast food chain constantly striving to be the top of its game. Although it only serves chicken on the menu and is closed on Sunday’s, it has no problems keeping up with its competitors in revenue. *D. Conclusion: In conclusion, I think Chick-fil-A is a successful family owned restaurant chain. The relationship between white Americans and African-Americans in the USA in the early 1960s Mississippi Burning is a movie that takes place in the early 1960s, 1964 to be exact, in a small town named Jessup. The relationship between the black and the white is very intense and the black people are treated like they are a step below the normal white man. The plot in the movie is about a missing person case (three boys fighting for the black people’s rights suddenly disappear) that two FBI agents are to investigate, and they get swept up into something much bigger than what they just came for; the conflict between the black and the white that took place in south of America in the 1960s. That is what I’m going to discuss further in this essay, namely what the movie tells us about the relationship between the white Americans and the Black American. SCENE displays this as once the FBI men have had the fright of their life they spot something outside, to then see it is a burning cross. At this point the cross is burning bright and the environment around is dull, almost not there. This is highlighting the fact that at this point of time the police are winning and their ways are brighter and better then there’s. This proves that the police believe that treating black people like dogs is okay. Throughout the film there are dramatic camera angles, the best one that highlights the whole movie is the opening scene, where we are looking directly at a white mans’ drinking fountain and a black mans’ drinking fountain, the differences in the fountains show that black men have no rights and white men have too many. Alan Parker uses language and costume to highlight certain characters and their actions. Language being a strong point throughout the film, Alan highlights the fact that the police for example are pig headed by the way they speak. They have a lot of slag and a lot of attitude. Alan highlights the fact that the black people have a voice as when they do speak, they are polite and confident. The way the characters all dress reflects them too, as Alan tries to portray a message that the black people cannot afford not only nice clothes but a better life, that the white men can afford to dress nice but cannot afford a nice attitude. Sound is used to help maintain a scene, to help make it more dramatic, to make you more excited, to prove a point or make you sadder. Sound helps portray messages in such a way that words cant. Mississippi Burning without fail reaches to enhance these points as the film carries out many strong ‘sound’ points. SCENE when the three civil right men are found, the funeral is withheld and a black woman with a strong voice take the scene as she evokes the point that the two white boys were not allowed to be buried near the black boy and not only she, but the whole black culture has had enough of being treated like dirt. This scene shows a rise up, a community of black people standing together for the last time as dirt and rising up together as strong-willed people. Mississippi Burning uses a wide range of techniques to provoke messages being hidden throughout the film. Racial hate and bigotry are constantly highlighted behind mixed messages and a hidden meaning as Alan Parker allows a viewer to withhold their own opinion on not just the film, but racism itself.

Question: Describe about the Resource Management Act 1991. Answer: Introduction RMA- Resource Management Act was introduced in New Zealand in the year 1991 basically outlining guidelines about how to manage the environment. Thus it concentrates on managing the natural and physical resources such as land, water and air. The said Act has three main significances. Firstly it is the sole integrated framework which manages all the resources under one roof rather than multiple regimes. Secondly it has inculcated within its regime the concept of sustainability and thirdly the main purpose of RMA was development of a sustainable environment. It is basis this purpose that all the other rules and regulations are spelt out. Another very distinctive characteristic of the RMA is that it promotes participation of the public in the decision making process. Key Sections Of Rma That Delegate Responsiblities To Local Government RMA delegates responsibilities to the regional and district council. The key sections of the Act that delegates such responsibilities are section 28A wherein the Act requires the Regional council to provide adequate data to the minister of conservation when needed. Section 30 which defines what the functions of the regional council are under the said Act, Section 31 looks into the functions of the territorial authorities, Further section 31A delegates some powers of the local government to the minister of conservation. Thus this section basically concentrates upon delegation of responsibilities to the local government both regional as well as district level (Smith, 1999). Section 28A, delegates to regional council with the responsibility to supply with adequate data about how the council has been monitoring the coastal permits in relation to the region or data regarding the regional coastal plan or what rights are being exercised by the council for the protection of the coastal region. Controlling the water bodies with regards the quality, usage, flow damming as well as level of the water. The territorial authorities control the effect that usage of land has , controls the noise level, and the effects that the activities have on the surface of the water of lakes and rivers. But the regional council covers a wider area. It keeps a check on the usage of freshwater, land, air and coastal waters as well. It look after the navigations at the harbours, road transports by ensuring that the roads are well maintained and connected and manages the rivers as well taking charge of the floods and erosional activities of the rivers (Localcouncils.gvt.nz. 2016).
